Dylan & Joy | 12 November 2010 | Simon’s Town

What a huge honour it was to be part of Dylan & Joy’s special day! Joy’s dad, Rear-Admiral Robert Higgs, is head of the Navy in Simon’s Town. The Higgs family live in the stately Belmont House which is where the couple decided to have their wedding. It was beautiful! We were also very lucky to have access to a stunning, small private beach on the Navy’s property which is where we decided to take some of their couple photographs :) Dylan hung up his rugby togs this time, for a suave Hilton Weiner suit, and Joy looked like a dream in her Jenni Button wedding gown. The deep love that Dylan and Joy have for one another is SO inspiring. Joy is not just an incredibly beautiful woman on the outside, but her heart is one of the most beautiful and selfless I have seen. Mr and Mrs Des Fountain, you guys are so awesome! Thank you SO much for making us feel so welcome and loved. We wish you both an incredible journey of marriage together, filled with huge amounts of love and the best memories! x x x

PS. Please be sure to catch Dylan & Joy’s Wedding which is being featured on Top Billing on Thursday, 13 January 2011 at 19h30! :)

A note to photographers: Joy’s eyes are really this blue! I did not edit them one bit.

Bennie & Carla | 6 November 2010 | Montagu Guano Cave Guest Farm

Bennie & Carla are both originally from Montagu. Bennie is a farmer and Carla, a chef. They’ve known each other for 14 years and decided to have a 1920 Gatsby theme for their wedding. The guests dressed up accordingly, which made for some awesome photos :) I absolutely LOVED the details that Carla used. There were typewriters (which I was crazy about!) where guests could type the couple personal messages, old suitcases, wooden carved hearts, a beautiful vintage Chevy as well as Croquet, Bowls and Chess games that the guests got to enjoy. As the sun set, out came a huge table filled with many jars of candy, the kind you ate when you were young :), like marshmellow fish, chomps, candy necklaces, and sweetie pies. Bennie en Carla, baie dankie dat ons hierdie dag saam met julle kon geniet! Julle is ‘n baie duurbare paartjie en ons wens julle ‘n wonderlike huwelik saam! :)

PS. I don’t usually use vintage editing, but I fell in love with the nostalgic character it gave my images from this wedding :)

Colin & Robin | 25 September 2010 | Constantia

Colin & Robin had a very special, small and intimate wedding of only 25 guests, their closest family and friends. They came all the way from the UK to get married at their Aunt Brenda and Uncle Ali’s beautiful home in Constantia. The reception was held later on at the Italian Kitchen in Tokai, who by the way, make amazing food! Colin & Robin, you guys are such a sweet couple and it’s so evident that you love one another very deeply. Thank you so much for making us feel so welcome! Wishing you both an amazing marriage together! x

PS. Sue made the beautiful cupcake wedding cake, and boy, not only did it look so good, it was so delicious!

Good friends of my husband and I, Luvuyo & Sanda, have a new little addition to their family, sweet little Qhama :) He has so many different facial expressions it was so entertaining to watch as he would change from a rather serious looking little face to a BIG toothless smile! :) Here are a few photos from our day together.

Zizi | Reach for a Dream Shoot | Crystal Towers Hotel

I admire this beautiful, brave girl SO much… Kerry Vercuil (a volunteer from Reach for a Dream) contacted me to do a portrait shoot for Zizi, a really beautiful young lady :). The morning started off with a shoot at the Crystal Towers Hotel where they were staying and then Kerry treated Zizi and her mom to some shopping and lunch at Canal Walk Shopping Centre.

I feel INCREDIBLY privileged to have met Zizi. She has stage 4 Connective Tissue Cancer and has been undergoing radiation treatment which, along with MANY other side effects, causes her to barely sleep at night. She didn’t get much sleep the night before and yet she never complained once… she was only grateful.

Zizi, you are such a hero… so very, very brave. x
